Nancy C. King is the founder and Artistic Director of The King Centre for the Performing Arts and the New Jersey Foundation for Dance and Theatre Arts — a 501(c)(3) established to advance the performing arts.

Educated at Rider University and the Hedgerow Dramatic School, Nancy founded the King Centre in 1970 with a simple conviction: that rigorous, personal training could open doors to any stage in the world. Half a century later, her students have gone on to Broadway, film, television, national tours, and the Radio City Rockettes.

"I have never taught a single dancer I didn't know by name — that is the whole point of this school."

A life devoted to the studio

What began as one studio has become an institution known across the tri-state area. Under Nancy's direction, The King Centre built a curriculum spanning ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and hip-hop — taught by a faculty with Broadway, Rockettes, and professional company credits.

Beyond the barre, Nancy founded the New Jersey Foundation for Dance and Theatre Arts to make serious training accessible, funding scholarships and supporting the annual Nutcracker production that has become a community tradition.

Her philosophy has never wavered: artistry before applause, and every student known by name.
