Ballet Classes in New Jersey
The foundation of every great dancer

Ballet is where technique begins. At The King Centre for the Performing Arts, one of New Jersey's longest-running dance studios, our ballet program builds the strength, posture, musicality and discipline that carry over into every other style of dance — and into life off the stage.
Whether you're looking for a joyful first-ever ballet class for a three-year-old or serious pre-professional training that leads to pointe work and competition, our Cecchetti- and ABT-based syllabus meets your dancer exactly where they are.
Serving dance families across Bergen and Passaic County — Mahwah, Wanaque, Ramsey, Franklin Lakes, Oakland, Wyckoff, Ridgewood, Pompton Lakes and the surrounding North Jersey communities.

Whether you want a fun weekly activity or a serious path to the competition stage, ballet at The King Centre has a place for your dancer.

Frequently asked questions
What age should my child start ballet?
Children can begin creative movement and pre-ballet as early as age 3. There is no wrong time to start — we have classes and levels for every age, including teens and adults who are brand new to dance.
When can a dancer start pointe?
Pointe work begins only when a dancer has the strength, alignment and years of training to do it safely — typically after several years of ballet. Our faculty evaluates readiness individually to protect young dancers.
Do you offer competitive ballet?
Yes. Ballet is the foundation of our American Youth Dance Company, and our leveled classes prepare dancers for competition, auditions and pre-professional work.
